Philip Bowen Drops New Single, Announces Album & Tour

West Virginia native Philip Bowen released his latest single “The Wheel” this past Friday. Solo-penned by the emerging artist, the emotive track is steeped in rich songwriting and captures the distressing reality of addiction.

Now he’s begging for a blessing – from some city on a hill

He ain’t really tried to change much – I guess he never will

See him crawl back up the gangway, and spy an old familiar friend

The Devil promising salvation – if he just spins the wheel again

Staying true to his Appalachian roots, Bowen purposefully and carefully composes his songs, ensuring they reflect where he came from. “The Wheel” brings its listeners his familiar, beloved sound, along with a captivating melody that delivers a seaside flare, while the lyrics tell the story of one sailor’s journey.

“This song paints a picture of the cycle of addiction,” shares the singer-songwriter. “Unless it’s broken, its path is destructive. However, the predictability of it is often obvious to everyone but the person battling the problem. I recorded the track in Woodstock, NY with Jon Notar and I really think we were able to capture all the emotion behind the words.”

After grabbing the attention of many with his highly sought-after abilities as a multi-instrumentalist, Philip began developing his own artistry, which has already led to him sharing stages with artists such as Wyatt Flores, Ian Munsick and Charles Wesley Godwin. Later this year, Bowen will be releasing his sophomore album, Appalachia Forever, and heading on its accompanying tour kicking off in August with support from Julia DiGrazia.
