Hayden Redwine Drops Single To Benefit Flood Victims
Cemented in authenticity, singer-songwriter Hayden Redwine has released “The Quiet (Southbound Sessions)” today. The single is a live take of an original song that reflects his deep emotion regarding a personal tragedy. In the aftermath of the Central Texas floods, Redwine’s only hope is that it may resonate with those who have felt immense loss as well.
Never thought I would end up here
And come face to face with what I fear
The clock keeps ticking slow and true
But time don’t mean a thing to you
If love is a river, you were the rain
Falling down on hearts that won’t be the same
There’s so much I just can’t explain
And it hurts so bad to hear your name
“This is one of the hardest songs I’ve ever written,” shares Redwine. “It’s one of those that didn’t ask permission to be written. I cant pretend to know the pain of losing a child, but I wanted a way to honor my nephew’s life. He mattered and so does every other child that has had to leave this world when they shouldn’t have. And after the floods in Texas, I had an entirely new perspective of the song.”
Solo-penned by the West Texas native, the single relays his immense dejection and sorrow while carrying a stripped down acoustic style, allowing listeners to be emerged in the weight of the track without any distractions.
“The life of this song so far has continually surprised me. I wrote it in an effort to try to somehow relay how I was feeling, and how I imagine my family was feeling, during a very dark time. When I posted a video of the song, I quickly realized the impact it had on others, but I didn’t know what to do with it. I had recorded this live take with Southbound Sessions months before the floods and the moment I heard about the devastation in Central Texas my heart just went out to every single person affected. Feeling helpless and devastated, I turned back to the lyrics of this song thinking if I could only get them to reach a larger audience, they may really help someone through life’s unexpected tragedies. It was kind of a surreal feeling to revisit this song at such a time, but my main goal when releasing music is to try and reach people where they’re at and hope that in some way they feel connected to it. That’s always my goal.”
In an effort to help people affected by the floods, all of Redwine’s proceeds from the track will be donated to help those in need.
