Drew Baldridge Celebrates Historic Number 1 Song

BMI transformed the rooftop of its Nashville location into a backyard barbecue to celebrate independent artist Drew Baldridge and the songwriters behind his groundbreaking No. One hit “She’s Somebody’s Daughter,” on Thursday (10/03). Baldridge made history as the first self-released artist (Lyric Ridge Records) to take the top spot on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart on their first No. One.

Hosted by BMI and emceed by BMI’s MaryAnn Keen, Baldridge was joined by BMI award-winning co-writers Cameron Jaymes and Jimmy Yeary along with producer Nick Schwarz. Friends, family and industry professionals filled the space and reflected on Baldridge’s career path from playing backyard gigs to joining Cody Johnson for his first-ever stadium tour next year.

To celebrate first-time BMI No. One songs for both Baldridge and Jaymes, each writer was presented with a custom branded Taylor 210e DLX guitar. Sponsored by Studio Bank, Kari Barnhart made a special donation presentation on behalf of Baldridge and the songwriters in support of the Warrior Nation Cancer Foundation, an organization in his hometown that helps those struggling to pay daily expenses when battling cancer.
